Eligibility 

  • You are a citizen of the United States
  • You live, work or attend school full time in New York State and have done so for at least 6 months prior to competing
  • You are female, never married and never have had children
  • You must live, work, or attend school full time in the state of New York above Long Island and the 5 boroughs of New York City
  • Miss: You are between 18-25. 
    ​You will not be older than 25 by December 31st.
  • Teen: You are between 13-17, and not yet a high school senior
  • You meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization

Evening Wear (15%)
Briefly model a formal gown. Contestants are judged on their sense of style, elegance, and the overall sense of joy they bring to their beauty. 

On-Stage Question (20%)
Contestants will be asked to answer a brief question relating to current events, the organization, or herself. Communication skills and comfort under pressure are evaluated.

Phases of Competition


Private Interview (25%)
Individual 10-minute interview with our panel of judges. Contestants are judged on communication skills, the ability to convey her opinion, personality and confidence.

Talent (30%)
A 90-second routine of any type. Judges will look for a combination of skill, excitement and entertainment value. 

Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimwear (10%)
Contestants will model a one or two piece swimsuit. Contestants are judged on their physical health and confidence.
